    Programme Overview:

    The Altai Blue Horizon Teacher Exchange Programme offers a unique chance to contribute to education in one of Mongolia's most remote and culturally rich regions. Volunteers can teach English or Mongolian at public schools in Ă–lgii town or rural villages, helping to improve education quality and promote cultural exchange. The programme is ideal for experienced teachers, university students, or individuals with strong English or Mongolian skills who want to make a meaningful impact.

    Programme Duration:

    • Autumn Semester: September to December
    • Spring Semester: February to May

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Teach English or Mongolian: Plan and deliver lessons focused on language skills, mainly for older students (grades 8 to 12).
    • Collaborate with Local Teachers: Share teaching methods, co-create lesson plans, and support professional development.
    • Mentor Students: Assist with language learning, critical thinking, and exam preparation.
    • Organise Activities: Lead extracurricular workshops, including conversation clubs, creative writing, and cultural projects.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum Age: 18 years old.
    • Language Skills: C1 English for international volunteers; native Mongolian for local volunteers. Kazakh or Mongolian knowledge is a plus.
    • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for local traditions and openness to working in a diverse community.
    • Adaptability: Ability to live in rural areas with limited modern conveniences.
    • Experience: Teaching, volunteering, or youth work experience is beneficial but not required.

    Accommodation & Meals:

    Volunteers live with local host families, either in a private room or shared accommodation with other volunteers. Meals are provided, offering a taste of traditional Kazakh and Mongolian cuisine. Staying with a host family provides an authentic cultural experience and helps volunteers integrate into the community.
