    Description

As our Media Relations Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and executing media strategies to increase PPI’s visibility. You will work closely with the leadership team to craft press releases, pitch stories, and engage with media outlets to spread awareness about our initiatives. You will also need to participate in a monthly meeting. We may meet more than once a month in certain circumstances. If you can't join for whatever reason, please email the head, Isaac Tate, about it in advance. You are not expected to do all of these. Different media relations coordinators will do different things, depending on which are already being done.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Press & Media Outreach

    • Develop and maintain a media contact list of journalists, bloggers, and news outlets.
    • Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and op-eds to journalists and media platforms.
    • Build relationships with climate-focused media professionals and organizations.

    Content Development

    • Write press releases, media kits, and briefing materials for PPI’s campaigns and initiatives.
    • Develop compelling story ideas that highlight PPI’s impact and mission.
    • Assist in crafting talking points and messaging for interviews with leadership or spokespeople.

    Media Strategy & Public Relations

    • Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities for PPI to be featured.
    • Help develop crisis communication strategies when needed.
    • Collaborate with the social media and marketing teams to align messaging across platforms.

    Event & Campaign Support

    • Secure media coverage for PPI events, initiatives, and advocacy efforts.
    • Organize press conferences, interviews, and public statements when necessary.
    • Assist in coordinating media-related partnerships and collaborations.
