    Description

    Board Treasurer

    The Greater Contribution is a nonprofit organization empowering some of the most impoverished women in the world. Through micro loans, hard-working women develop small, sustainable businesses to lift their families out of poverty.

    The treasurer is an important part of the organization, providing a broad knowledge of the organization’s available finances and advising the Board of Directors on their decisions based on those resources and goals.

    Duties

    • Serves on the Board of Directors and fulfills all board member duties, including attending monthly board meetings in person in Thousand Oaks.
    • Provides guidance on the organization's fiscal matters, including long-term strategic planning.
    • Reviews monthly financial reports developed by staff and to be presented to the board, including current bank balance, current donation spreadsheet, special income or expenses, and any financial concerns that come to light.
    • With the Executive Director, develops and provides an annual budget to the board for members’ approval.
    • Ensures compliance with all financial regulatory requirements of the federal and state governments.
    • Brings good judgment and commitment to our mission.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of accounting principles
    • Experience with budgeting and financial analysis preferred, including use of Quickbooks online.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively in a board setting.
    • Passion for helping to fight poverty

    Term of office

    • The term of office is two years with a possible second term of an additional two years. This is a pro-bono position.
