    Description

    Job Overview:

    As a Mentor for the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA), you will play a key role in guiding veterans and their spouses through career transitions and growth in project management. Your responsibilities include providing mentorship in one or more formats: one-on-one mentorship, group mentorship, or "on-call" mentorship. You will be vital in sharing your expertise, offering guidance, and supporting mentees in developing their skills and confidence in project management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1:1 Mentorship: (Volunteer Hours 2-5 weekly, based on your availability)

    Create an account in Mentorloop upon receipt of the email invitation.

    Establish a mentoring relationship tailored to the mentee's needs, ideally committing to a 6-month timeframe (flexible based on the mentee's goals).

    Provide guidance, support, and actionable feedback to help the mentee develop their project management skills and achieve their career objectives.

    Group Mentorship: (Volunteer Hours 3-5 weekly, based on your availability)

    Create an account in Mentorloop upon receipt of the email invitation.

    Participate in group mentorship sessions as a facilitator, panel member, or supporting participant.

    Share experiences, answer questions, and discuss topics with mentees, focusing on monthly themes relevant to veterans transitioning into project management roles.

    "On-Call" Mentorship: (Volunteer Hours Vary)

    Be available to field questions from mentees via email as needed, offering timely responses and insights based on your experience and expertise.

    Guide specific questions or challenges that mentees encounter in their careers.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.

    Strong organizational and time management capabilities.

    Experience in mentoring, coaching, or training others.

    Proficient in digital communication and collaboration tools.

    Comfortable with basic administrative tasks and documentation.

    Passionate about supporting veterans, military families, and mission-driven work.

    Language proficiency: English (fluent).

    Two Professional References

    Access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

    Preferred Skills:

    Project management experience or knowledge.

    Familiarity with veteran transition challenges.

    Experience in facilitating group discussions.

    Position Details:

    Type: Volunteer

    Location: Remote

    Committee: Programs & Career Services (Mentorship)

    Time Commitment: Varies based on the availability of the volunteer and the mentor position. The suggested commitment is 3-5 hours per week, with a duration of 12 months. Days of the week are flexible.

    Reporting Structure:

    Direct Report: Mentor Manager

    Alternate: Deputy Director of Mentorships

    Team: Mentors, Readiness Coach, Mentee Intake Coordinator, Group Mentorship Manager

    Training and Support:

    Volunteers will receive training on VPMMA's mission, mentorship, and career strategies. You will receive ongoing support to ensure you have the necessary resources and guidance to excel in this role.
