    Position Summary

    The Heart of Art is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Social Media Manager to join our Board of Directors. This individual will take the lead on shaping and managing the organization’s digital presence, storytelling strategy, and content calendar across platforms. They will also manage social media interns, lead bi-weekly social media team meetings, and coordinate efforts with the founder as needed to ensure brand consistency and alignment with the organization’s mission.

    Additionally, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for creating the initial look and build-out of The Heart of Art’s official website at www.ignitetheheartofart.org.

    This is a remote volunteer position; however, applicants must reside in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia (DMV), Pennsylvania (PA), or New York (NY) to be eligible.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead social media strategy and content calendar across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others as needed)
    • Manage and mentor social media interns, providing training, task delegation, and regular check-ins
    • Host and facilitate bi-weekly team meetings with the social media team to plan campaigns, track progress, and brainstorm content
    • Coordinate efforts with the Founder to ensure all messaging and branding align with organizational goals and voice
    • Collaborate with the Chair of Fundraising & Development and Chair of Community Engagement and Partnerships to support digital campaigns and events
    • Design and launch the organization's official website at www.ignitetheheartofart.org, including layout, navigation, and basic functionality
    • Monitor social media analytics and trends to improve engagement
    • Assist with visuals, graphics, reels, and digital storytelling across platforms
    • Participate in monthly board meetings and digital communications planning

    Ideal Qualifications

    • Experience in social media management, digital storytelling, or creative communications
    • Familiarity with web design platforms like Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress
    • Background in branding, marketing, or communications (preferred but not required)
    • Experience supervising interns or creative teams
    • Excellent communication and design skills
    • Mission-driven, collaborative, and detail-oriented
    • Ability to commit up to 5 hours per week, not to exceed 20 hours per month
    • Must reside in DC, MD, VA, PA, or NY
