    Description

    Position Overview

    The Volunteer Executive Director is the chief executive of Women Empowered International and is responsible for leading the organization’s strategic direction, operations, and partnerships. Based in Washington, DC, this hybrid role combines in-person engagement with remote flexibility, ideal for a visionary leader passionate about global gender equity and community impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership

    • Lead the development and execution of WEI’s strategic plan.
    • Collaborate with the Board to set goals and measure impact.
    • Represent WEI in local and global forums, partnerships, and media.

    Fundraising & Development

    • Design and implement fundraising strategies (grants, donors, sponsorships).
    • Cultivate relationships with funders, corporate partners, and community leaders in the DC area and beyond.
    • Oversee donor communications and stewardship.

    Program Oversight

    • Support the planning and evaluation of programs and initiatives.
    • Ensure alignment with WEI’s mission and values.
    • Promote innovation and inclusivity in program design.

    Organizational Management

    • Supervise volunteer teams and ensure effective operations.
    • Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.
    • Maintain transparent communication with the Board and stakeholders.

    Communications & Advocacy

    • Guide the organization’s messaging and public relations.
    • Amplify the voices of women and girls through storytelling and campaigns.
    • Lead digital and community engagement strategies.

    Qualifications

    • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
    • Strong commitment to women’s empowerment and social justice.
    • Excellent communication, fundraising, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to lead in a hybrid environment with both in-person and remote collaboration.
    • Experience with strategic planning, team management, and stakeholder engagement.
