    Description

Bilingual Spanish/English advocate for children in foster care

In Passaic County, nearly half of the children in foster care are Hispanic. These children desperately need Spanish-speaking advocates to speak up for their needs and represent their best interests.

Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers, or CASAs, look out for the best interests of children in Passaic County who have been abused or neglected and placed into foster care. CASAs advocate for the child's needs and gather information from the family, caretakers, teachers, doctors, and caseworkers in order to make informed recommendations to the family court about the child’s future. Often, CASAs are the only consistent person in the child's life while they are involved in the child welfare system.

No specific background, training, or education is required; all training and resources are provided. Make a difference in a child's life without being their foster parent and by dedicating only 7 - 15 hours per month. For more information, e-mail training@casapassaicunion.org or call 973-832-4002.

Being a CASA will change a child's life -- and yours.
