    Description

Volunteer Opportunity: Assistant Residency Program Coordinator

    About the Residency

Fundación ArteSumapaz is an arts and culture center located in the serene countryside of San Bernardo, Cundinamarca. We host residencies for international, national, and emerging visual artists, musicians, writers, and creatives of all kinds. Our mission extends beyond the arts to include projects in organic agriculture, reforestation, and community building.

The residency program is self-directed, offering artists access to various studio spaces—including visual art, music, movement, writing, and more—across our expansive 230-acre campus. Artists are encouraged to experiment and collaborate, fostering a vibrant community of creatives and environmentalists who inspire one another.

As Assistant Residency Program Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for all residents, volunteers, and staff.

    Responsibilities

    Your key duties will include:

    • Overseeing daily operations of the residency program.
    • Conducting campus inspections and encouraging a tidy, organized environment.
    • Acting as the primary point of contact for residents, volunteers, and visitors, ensuring clear communication and support.
    • Leading weekly meetings for volunteers and residents.
    • Collaborating with kitchen and cleaning teams, attending weekly kitchen meetings, and addressing feedback.
    • Managing schedules and resources (e.g., tools, materials, shared spaces).
    • Supporting volunteers across the kitchen, garden, and artistic projects.
    • Assisting with social media management, including promoting open calls for artists.
    • Addressing health and safety concerns and ensuring standards are upheld.
    • Contributing to long-term planning for residency and volunteer programs, with a focus on sustainability in composting, recycling, and gardening systems.
    • Providing tours to visitors and sharing ArteSumapaz’s ethos.

    Requirements

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
    • Passion for sustainability, community-building, and creative spaces.
    • Fluency in English; Spanish language skills are highly desirable.

    What We Offer

    Accommodation:

Casa Tasmania (Casa T), located at the entrance of Hacienda Australia, provides a modest yet peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. It features:

    • Two connected bedrooms (two single beds each).
    • A bathroom with hot (low pressure) and cold (high pressure) showers.
    • A spacious outdoor patio shaded by trees.

    • Tiled floors, mosquito nets, blankets, pillows, towels, and new mattresses.
    • Views of trees with opportunities to spot birds and squirrels.

    Additional Perks:

    • Three vegetarian meals daily.
    • A creative, supportive environment for personal and professional growth.
    • Opportunities to engage with the local community and contribute to sustainable systems.
    • Flexible work hours: 5 hours a day, with two days off weekly.
    • Access to studio spaces: painting, 3D, movement, music, and writing.
