    Description

Advocate for children in foster care

Children in foster care need compassionate, caring, and dedicated adults to provide support and help them navigate the overburdened child welfare system.

That's where Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers come in.

Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers, or CASAs, look out for the best interests of children who have been abused or neglected and removed from home. CASA volunteers spend time with their assigned child or sibling group, learn about their individual needs, and advocate for those needs through the Passaic County Family Court. Often, CASAs are the only consistent person in the child's life while they are involved in the child welfare system. Being a CASA will change a child's life -- and yours.

And guess what? You don't need any specific background, training, or education to become a CASA; all training and resources are provided! As a volunteer, you will receive an education about the child welfare and judicial systems, become part of a close-knit community of CASA staff and volunteers, and help a child find their way through foster care.
