    Overview

    NAMI San Francisco (NAMI SF) a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is a grassroots organization that advocates for improved mental healthcare and an end to stigma. NAMI SF provides classes and support groups for people living with a mental health condition and separately, for their families/caregivers-highly regarded as evidence-based treatment . We provide programs for youth and families including in-school high school presentations that empower students to seek care.

    We are currently seeking applications for new Board Members who are committed to our values of improving the lives of people living with a mental health condition and their communities and who want to work in an inclusive and collaborative environment.

    THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION.

    Responsibilities

    The Board holds overall legal and fiduciary responsibility for the organization. Our role is to work collaboratively with staff, mostly the Executive Director to maintain the organization's healthy financial standing and to carry out activities that strategically grow the organization financial capacity and visibility in the community so NAMI SF can carry out its mission.

    Background/Skills

    Especially useful is a background in one or more of the following areas:

      • Fundraising/Donor Relations
      • Legal/Operational Expertise
      • Event Planning
      • Financial and Data Analysis
      • Connections to Different Networks in San Francisco
      • Mental Health Personal Experience

    Time Commitment

    Board members are expected to devote 6 hours per month which includes a bi-monthly board meeting and 1-2 committee meetings each month via Zoom.

    The application deadline is Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Interviews will be conducted January 13-24, 2025 and candidates will be notified no later than January 30th.
