    Description

    Community Center Committee Volunteer

    About the Northeast Community Center

The Northeast Community Center (NECC) is an independent non-profit community center and treasured neighborhood anchor in NE Portland. Located in the former NE Family YMCA facility, the NECC’s mission is to build and support a thriving and resilient intergenerational community in NE Portland. Guided by our values, the NECC provides physical space and community-responsive programs that promote wellbeing, foster relationships, empower individuals, and center equity.

    Join a Committee

Join one of our committees to help participate in the direction and success of NECC! We are actively recruiting volunteers for our Community Relations, Finance and Facilities and Governance Committees. Committee work is essential to a thriving non-profit. Committees spend dedicated time to thoroughly researching and vetting areas before making recommendations to the full board. Brief descriptions are below.

Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form (necommunitycenter.org/volunteering) to get involved and reach out to Bri Slusser at execdir@necommunitycenter.org if you have any questions.

    • Community Relations Committee - This committee focuses on all external areas, including relationship building, fundraising, public relations, publications, and marketing. These topics often overlap. Public relations efforts should be crafted to support and enrich fundraising and vice versa.
    • Finance and Facilities Committee - This committee focuses on all internal and operational issues coming before the board. These include issues related to finance, investments, capital acquisitions, human resources, funding and allocation, and facilities.
    • Governance Committee - This committee is responsible for the health and functioning of the board. It recruits and nominates new members; evaluates the performance of the board itself; orients, trains and educates board members; and produces board materials, such as board orientation manuals.
