The GCCOG is a sub-regional joint powers authority established by its 27 member cities and the County of Los Angeles) in Southeast Los Angeles County. The purpose of the GCCOG is to provide a vehicle for members to engage in regional and cooperative planning and coordination of government services and responsibilities.
The COG’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the two million residents of the subregion. Targeted initiatives include transportation planning, affordable housing, improving air quality, economic development and other community- enhancing activities. In addition, the Council provides a regional organization for the review of federal, state, and/or regional projects and studies which involve the use of federal, state and/or regional funds, in various forms.
