Where did this idea come from?
Hello! My name is Ami Dar and I am the founder of Idealist. 40 years ago I arrived in Cusco, Peru, a young backpacker with the glimmer of an idea that it should be possible to connect good people all over the world with one another, and with ways to do good.
I bought a notebook and some pencils, and sat down in a coffee shop to start working on a plan for this. Ten years later, with the invention of the Web, those youthful jottings led to Idealist. But I never stopped believing we could do more.
I always believed that together we could do more. The question was how.
