The Aspen Grove School

Our mission is to inspire and encourage all children to develop a lifelong love of learning, celebrate their strengths, thrive in their differences and believe that they too can make a dent in the universe.

Founders, Micah Straight and Sharon Jayakumar are two local parents who started building The Aspen Grove School as a labor of love. We wanted an early learning environment that was inspiring, celebrated a sense of wonder and addressed the needs of the whole child. The kind of environment that we would want for our own children. 

Micah (Executive Director of Soccer Shots, Pediatric Physical Therapist and Dad of 3) and Sharon (Business Executive, Co-Founder of the non-profit Bhagya and Mom of 2) set their careers aside in order to bring The Aspen Grove School to life. Micah and Sharon are on-site, actively involved in building The Aspen Grove community and delivering on our mission, along with our Head of School.

The school occupies approximately 13,000 square feet across 3 levels within a beautifully renovated historic space, in what was previously the First African Baptist Church. Every classroom maximizes natural light and has been designed with high ceilings, large windows and open layouts. Our classrooms are beautiful to look at, set up to invite curiosity and organized to create a sense of calm.  Many natural materials are used for both décor and project work. We have 2 spacious indoor gross motor areas and proximity to green spaces for outdoor experiences.
