  • About Us

The Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) provides guidance and information about appropriate donations regarding international disasters to the general public, including: universities, religious groups, embassies, and corporations. CIDI is a program funded by the United States Agency for International Development’s Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA).

The CIDI’s purpose is to use education and outreach to reduce the level of inappropriate donations sent to victims of international disasters. Over many decades of disaster relief, it has become clear that the public’s generosity, while well-intended, is often misplaced.
