The mission of the San Francisco Unified School District is to provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed by promoting intellectual growth, creativity, self-discipline, cultural and linguistic sensitivity, democratic responsibility, economic competence, and physical and mental health so that each student can achieve his or her maximum potential.

The mission of the Superintendent Zone- Mission District is to empower and support teachers, administrators, families and community agencies to dramatically improve outcomes for students who have historically not had the opportunity to reach their maximum potential. We do this by improving district systems and structures, developing leadership capacity among school staff, supporting the development of innovative and effective instructional strategies, providing students with extra support and learning time, and engaging and empowering staff, families and the larger community.
