    The Office of the Ombudsman is an independent, impartial office empowered to investigate and resolve the public’s complaints about City of Portland government services and to recommend appropriate changes to safeguard the rights of persons and promote higher standards of fairness and justice in the provision of city services. The Office of the Ombudsman is located in the elected Auditor’s Office to ensure its independence. The mission of the Auditor’s Office is to promote an open and accountable government.
