  • About Us

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is the government agency that oversees and supports primary and secondary education for Ohio’s 1.9 million public school students. ODE works with the State Board of Education, Governor and Ohio General Assembly to shape educational policy and law and provide support to Ohio schools. Through the efforts of Ohio educators, the state has set high expectations for what all students should know and be able to do to succeed in the 21st century. ODE measures results and works to ensure educators, families and communities have the skills, knowledge and resources for helping students reach high levels of achievement, graduate and succeed in life.
