    Description

    Metro West Collaborative Development (MWCD) seeks a part-time Intern for Summer 2025 to support a community survey project under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. The project will focus on creating, disseminating, and analyzing a community survey resulting in a report to be used for organizational communications. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community development and nonprofit program evaluation. This internship may be ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in urban studies, sociology, public policy, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field.

    About Metro West CD

    Metro West CD is a non-profit Community Development Corporation (CDC) formed in 1991 to address the shrinking supply of affordable housing in communities west of Boston. Our CDC is involved in many facets of affordable housing: development, management, advocacy, public policy, affirmative marketing, eligibility certification and housing search assistance. Metro West CD has developed 205 units of affordable housing in Watertown, Medway, Newton, Norwell, and Hudson, with an additional 75 units in predevelopment in Newton and Natick.     Key Responsibilities

    • Design and deliver a community needs survey (digital and paper formats)
    • Conduct targeted outreach across MWCD’s service area to ensure broad participation
    • Collect, organize, and analyze survey data
    • Identify priority community needs, commonly used services, and demographic trends
    • Produce a summary report and visual presentation to communicate findings

    Deliverables

    • Final survey report with analysis and key insights
    • Compelling visual presentation to tell the story of MWCD’s clients and their needs (suitable for public or stakeholder audiences)

    Desired Qualifications

    • Interest in community development and empowerment of low-income individuals
    • Strong data analysis skills and experience with data collection/analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, or similar)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Coursework in research methods, data analysis, or community development is a plus

    Internship Details

    • Mid-June through mid-August (flexible start/end dates)
    • 8-16 hours a week, option to work remotely or from MWCD’s office in Newton. Occasional in-person time if the project requires.
    • $25.00 hourly
