    • 4 weeks of co-located work throughout the year with Our Roots founder
    • Additional team retreats
    • Community engagement events

    Working hours are 9 to 5 PST on weekdays with some evenings and weekends, as needed.

We do this by virtually connecting pregnant and postpartum communities to peer coaches who promote healing, prevent anxiety and depression, and uplift joy and cultural wisdom.

    About the Role: We are looking for an exceptional Coach Manager who is energized to support the hiring and growth of a team of peer coaches who offer loving, culturally-relevant care to our community members.

    In the first few months of the role, you will be offering peer coaching to birthing parents, improving our training guide, hiring peer coaches, and developing resources for our birthing parents.

    As your team grows, your role will evolve to support peer coaches in embodying our coaching framework every step of the way. You will do this by onboarding peer coaches, by offering ongoing training and trauma-informed practices, and building trust through supportive supervision to ensure that our community members can experience joy and transformation during their perinatal period. Reporting directly to the Founder/CEO, you’ll co-create the systems, practices, and team culture that allow coaches, and the birthing parents they work with to experience the best possible outcome.

    This role is ideal for someone who has strong peer coaching and coach management skills, has previously worked at a mission-driven startup, and deeply believes in Our Roots.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    Peer Coach Supervision & Development

    • Lead onboarding around Our Roots coaching framework
    • Facilitate weekly team meetings to build support between coaches, reflective and trauma-informed practices
    • Hold weekly 1:1 check ins with peer coaches
    • Co-design and iterate on a system that encourages peer coach skills development, celebrates with team, and addresses challenges
    • Play an integral role in building a strong team culture rooted in care, accountability, and joy
    • Support tracking of mutually agreed on key performance indicators for peer coaching work
    • Support compliance of peer coach processes and documentation

    Hiring & Systems Support

    • Manage peer coach hiring process and rubric while offering inputs
    • Participate in interviews and selection
    • Help define the systems and tools needed to scale peer coaching with integrity to our mission and our values
    • Collaborate with operations, product and others as our team grows to shape trainings for peer coaches and data tracking systems

    Training & Resource Development

    • Co-build and improve upon on Our Roots coaching guide, a series of training materials that allows our peer coaches to live out our coaching framework
    • Co-build or improve upon resources offered to birthing parents

    Coaching Practice

    • Hold a small caseload of coaching check-ins with birthing parents
    • Model strong coaching practices and continue to evolve trainings based on this practice

    What You’ll Bring

    The following list of core competencies and experiences is meant to provide insight into the general level of experience we seek in candidates. We encourage all qualified candidates and those with relevant or transferable experience to apply.

    • 7+ years of peer coaching or related experience, with at least 3 years in a peer coach or behavioral health coach management role.
    • Be a certified Community Health Worker (CHW) or have completed 2000 hours of coaching experience and be willing to obtain certification.
    • Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and leading a small but growing team toward strong impact and a positive, values-aligned team culture.
    • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and facilitate engaging and effective training programs that build team skills.
    • Strong track record of building and maintaining a culture of accountability, including the use of metrics to assess and improve team dynamics and impact.
    • Skilled in providing coaching and counseling in a way that aligns with and honors Our Roots’ organizational and community culture.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage, mission-driven environment where adaptability and initiative are essential.
    • Familiarity with the needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals, and lived experience and/or deep proximity to the communities we serve preferred.
    • Experience building or scaling a team of peer coaches or similar support roles is a plus.
    • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
    • Licensure in social work, nurse midwifery, therapy is a plus, but not necessary

    What Our Roots Offers

    This is a full-time exempt salaried position. The salary range is $90,000 - $105,000 and is commensurate with your location and experience.
