    The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Bookkeeper in our Finance Department at 515 North Street White Plains, 10605.

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Bookkeeper is a highly detail-oriented and organized individual who will manage our financial records, oversee accounts (both payables and receivables), and assist the CFO to ensure the accuracy of all general financial data. This role will also be required to post journal entries and reconcile diverse financial statements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data Management and Cross-departmental Activities

    • Maintain accurate financial records by tracking daily transactions and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
    • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment processing.
    • Assist with the management of all grant requirements.
    • Support fundraising activities by regularly reconciling donations and gifts received from donors of all kinds.
    • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Provide guidance and training on accounts payable and receivables.

    Financial Reporting

    • Distribute appropriate monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
    • Create ad hoc reports as needed by program directors and YWCA Leadership.
    • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor and manage expense reports, purchase orders, and any related cash transactions.
    • Oversee the financial components of grant management, including ensuring compliance with grant requirements, monitoring expenditures, and preparing financial reports as needed

    Essential Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or equivalent area of study
    • 5 years of related experience
    • Minimum of 1-2 years working in a multi-program based non-profit organization preferred

    Licensing and/or Certifications:

    • Valid Notary Public certification preferred

    Key Attributes:

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Daxko, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
    • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and listen attentively.
    • Adept at maintaining professional relationships with internal staff and external clients.
    • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
    • Ability to exercise strong judgment when overseeing confidential financial materials.
    • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
