    Summary Description:

    The Director of Development and Operations is a full-time, key leadership role in Family Promise Chicago North Shore. The position leads and oversees the Development and Operations. The position is forward-facing to the community regarding FPCNS. The Director of Development and Operations reports directly to the Executive Director.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Development Responsibilities:

    • Manage the Development Process; research new funding opportunities; respond/apply to relevant opportunities. Development includes the following: individual donors, religious organizations, foundations, corporations, civic organizations, special events, government, etc.
    • Develop an efficient, scalable process for responding to grant applications
    • Regular meetings with the ED and contact with major donors; such donors should be contacted and/or met with at least two to three times per year
    • Appeals and Newsletters to all friends/donors at least three times per year
    • Oversee donor platforms and ongoing tracking.
    • Oversee the use of Mailchimp for ongoing communications.
    • Responsibility for ensuring that Family Promise meets annual development/fundraising goals
    • Ensuring the donation acknowledgement letters are prepared and sent to donors in a timely fashion

    Operational Responsibilities

    • Managing staff benefits and required documentation.
    • Maintaining (or assisting the Treasurer in maintaining) the FPCNS profile on charitable giving websites, such as Benevity
    • Assuring that FPCNS complies with state and local requirements (such as Illinois Secure Choice)
    • Maintaining the administration of the platforms for the website and email hosting
    • Hands-on preparation of the annual budget
    • Coordinate with the Treasurer regarding property, vehicle, and liability insurance
    • Assist the Treasurer and bookkeeper, as needed, in preparation for the annual financial audit

    Social Media Oversight Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with the Executive Director to provide content and the Director of Communications to organize social media and website such that social media and website are SEO compliant.
    • Ensure that all donor/potential donor messages from website, social media and phone are responded to within one business day
    • Consistently increase followers on social media platforms

    Qualifications:

    • Applicants must have three or more years of development experience in a nonprofit. Applicant must have experience raising funds through sponsorships, grants and individual donors. Applicants should have experience in CRM database management.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
    • Applicant must have strong verbal and written communication skills with good telephone etiquette.
    • Solid organizational and project management skills to promote productivity and efficiency; a willingness to work in a flexible environment is necessary to meet the needs of FPCNS.
    • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, corporations, and boards.
    • Demonstrated success in fund development and financial management. Experience with budgeting and fundraising is essential.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and climb stairs.
    • A valid Illinois driver’s license is required, along with reliable transportation.

    Schedule:

    This position is a full-time salaried position. This position has a hybrid schedule that allows the Director of Development & Operations to work three days on-site in the office and two days remotely, based on the needs of the organization. There may be an occasional need to work evenings or weekends, depending on agency events and meetings. The office is located in Evanston, Illinois.
