Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will have overall fiscal, strategic, and operational responsibility and oversight for staff, programs, services, and execution of strategic goals in service of the organization’s mission and vision, and in alignment with organizational values and behavioral standards.

INTRODUCTION
In addition to driving strategic initiatives and fostering multi-sector partnerships, the Executive Director must possess a deep understanding of direct service provision, excel in community engagement, and embody a business mindset. The ED should be someone who can drive nationwide change while meticulously crafting program models and policies at a granular level. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND OVERSIGHT
The Executive Director is responsible for performing duties as the highest-ranking management position within the organization to guide all aspects of its success. The ED will work closely with the founders to consistently implement their vision and expand it further. Reporting to the Board of Directors, and with the support of a strong leadership team, the Executive Director’s key areas of responsibility and oversight will include:
Financial Stewardship and Risk Management
- Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure sustainable funding and operational stability
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and make strategic recommendations to the leadership team and board
- Ensure consistent cash flow by managing diverse funding sources to maintain ongoing operations and fund future initiatives
- Develop and participate in executing financial policies, procedures, and reporting to ensure accuracy, transparency, and timely compliance with regulatory, legal, and reporting requirements
- Help cultivate new funding sources while maximizing existing revenue streams
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate financial risks, and track budgets
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism
- Continuously evaluate and adapt financial strategies in response to changing economic conditions, organizational needs, and regulatory environments
- Ensure robust financial preparedness for audits and accountability throughout the organization
- Develop and maintain risk management strategies to identify and effectively mitigate operational and organizational risks
- Oversight of Jenna’s Promise HIPAA and 42 and 45 CFR compliance and safety
- Oversight of Jenna’s Promise Information Technology (IT)
Business / Social Enterprise and Non-Profit Management
- Manage day-to-day operations including budgeting, fundraising, program development, and stakeholder engagement, to drive organizational growth and effectiveness
- Orchestrate the seamless integration and success of all Jenna’s Promise varied organizational components of the Recovery Village model and holistic whole-life approach, including non-profit and business/social enterprise initiatives
- Cultivate relationships with donors, investors, partners, and other stakeholders to secure funding, resources, and support for the organization's initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of programs and initiatives, using data and feedback to continuously improve performance and outcomes
- Stay abreast of trends, challenges, and opportunities in the fields of business, social enterprise, and nonprofit management, adapting strategies and approaches accordingly to drive innovation and resilience
- Solid business acumen, including budgetary and strategic business skills
- Strong marketing and public relations experience
Strategy Development and Implementation
- In collaboration with the Board and leadership team, serve as the primary driver of strategic planning, vision, mission, and implementation to achieve growth and financial stability targets over time
- Examine and evaluate opportunities for organizational expansion as appropriate and serve as ambassador to create and nurture strategic partnerships
Internal Policy Development and Implementation
- Implement policies and procedures to maximize overall program care and efficiency
- Ensure policies are properly and fairly implemented
Fundraising, Development, and Donor Relations
- Manage community partnerships and special projects and contracts
- Play a key role in supporting the internal development team to set and achieve fundraising targets, enhanced donor relationships, and institutional grants
Proactive People Management and Cultural Development
- Lead and inspire a diverse team of staff, volunteers, and partners, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment dedicated to achieving the organization's mission
- Understand and monitor the clinical service delivery, residential programs, workforce development training, and health and wellness programs
- Model professional development, training, and education and support staff in these areas
- Provide clear and consistent supervision to department heads including performance reviews
- Monitor the people and culture elements, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and benefit management
- Assess and identify organizational needs to evaluate competencies and determine performance gaps
- Have a proactive diversity, equity, and inclusion mindset and practice
- Attend industry and related conferences for new information, skills, and contacts
- Network with other practice professionals in and out of the field
- Demonstrate optimism and resiliency
Public Relations, Community Partnerships, and Major Events
- Ability to effectively network, engage, and communicate with political officeholders and state/federal program personnel
- Expand and strengthen ongoing relationships with referral agencies and funders
- Along with other leadership, serve as the “face of Jenna’s Promise” as appropriate
- Public and media relations
- Advocacy and community relations
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrated exceptional business and people management abilities with a proven track-record of successfully leading teams and achieving organizational goals
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in the fields of human services, public health, nonprofit management, socially responsible business practices, or other related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of mental health and substance use disorder system of care
- A history of ongoing professional development
- Knowledge of effective fundraising strategies
- Growth mindset with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication
- Problem-solver with day-to-day operational experience; thoughtful and decisive decision-maker
- A strategic thinker and changemaker who enjoys collaboration and co-creation with a commitment to mission and vision of the greater good
- Ten years or more of related experience
