Our mission is to create a network of support that will help people suffering from substance use disorder. We wish to open doors and remove the barriers for people seeking treatment, ensuring healthy and sustaining patient recovery.
Jenna's Promise is dedicated to transforming the landscape of substance use disorder. Our mission goes beyond merely providing assistance; we're committed to pioneering a new era for those affected by this condition. With a support structure that wraps itself around people fresh in recovery, Jenna’s Promise fills the gaps of the current system of substance use disorder by providing trauma and behavioral therapies to build up skillsets that address the core of why someone struggles with substance use in the first place. By adding in health and wellness, housing, and workforce programming, we give those who go through our programming a fresh start and an on-ramp into the life they’ve envisioned.
The Tatro family’s experience of losing Jenna Rae Tatro led them to a six-year painful struggle to understand the disease of addiction, to find suitable treatment centers, and to cope with the day-to-day issues that come with having a family member with substance use disorder. This culminated in the formation of Jenna’s Promise.
Jenna’s Promise is a recovery community in northern Vermont with a whole-person, whole-life approach to the treatment of substance use disorder. We’re here to help those in recovery with sober housing, treatment services, a support community, and an innovative work program that provides valuable job skills. Within a scenic and tranquil setting, we offer a highly structured environment and experienced, caring staff that is ready to set members of the program on a path to lasting well-being.
Residents go through a multi-phase, fully-immersive model that brings together the Recovery Residences, Workforce Development, Health and Wellness, and trauma-based clinical services (ITRR – see below) to create a groundbreaking program that goes far beyond offering a roof over someone’s head. Upon completion of the program, our goal is for program participants to have gained an understanding of their trauma, behavioral skills to process triggers in a healthy way, and improved physical, mental, and spiritual health. Participants will also have secured stable employment and housing, allowing them to successfully reintegrate into a community of their choosing.
Recovery Residences: Rae of Hope
The Recovery Residences program was created with the fundamental belief that people can recover from addiction and trauma with the aid of a professional staff and a supportive community. At Rae of Hope, we ask that residents arrive with desire and motivation to embark on a holistic journey towards wellness. Rae of Hope is Vermont’s first Level 3 Recovery Residence, certified by the Vermont Alliance for Recovery Residences. If residents complete the Phase Requirements, they can move to Beacon of Light—the second recovery home that grants people more responsibility. The transitional apartments, Bright Horizons, act as a springboard back into the community.
Workforce Development and Education
Workforce Development and Education is designed to guide members of the program through the process of honing professional skills, identifying and attaining educational goals, achieving financial literacy, crafting resumes, and (re)creating a career path. Through Jenna’s Promise social enterprises along with strategic partnerships within the community, we provide gainful employment and workforce development opportunities.
Jenna’s Promise Roasting Company and JPs Promising Goods discount store were both created to offer jobs to people in recovery and help them gain work experience. Additionally, Jenna’s Promise partners with Jenna’s Coffee House / Two Sons Bakehouse and other recovery-friendly workplaces to provide a bridge from part time employment in a more controlled environment to full time employment in the broader community.
Health and Wellness
In Phase One, residents participate in daily activities where they learn, among other things, new skills related to nutrition, healthy activities, breathing, and yoga. Residents progress through an Integrated Wellness Continuum where they create a personalized wellness plan — replacing unhealthy habits with new and healthy ones.
Institute for Trauma Recovery and Resiliency (ITRR)
For the first 13 weeks of our program, residents engage in a trauma-based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This program is provided by Jenna's Promise's clinical directors in partnership with ITRR as well as supplemental groups. After graduation from the IOP, residents continue to receive individualized clinical support throughout their time at Jenna’s Promise.
Jenna’s House Community Center
Jenna’s House Community Center is a gathering place for the community and helps to break down the stigma associated with substance use disorders by bringing people together through events and activities. The main floor of the community center is a state-of-the-art events venue and provides space for events for up to 150 people. It also houses the Health and Wellness and clinical programming.
Financial Assistance Program
We offer financial assistance to individuals who desire to get into a recovery residence or sober home to begin their recovery, as well as individuals who already reside in sober living but are experiencing financial hardship. Scholarships are provided directly to the residence operators on the applicants’ behalf. The duration of the assistance is typically 2-6 weeks and is dependent upon several factors.
Our mission is to create a network of support that will help people suffering from substance use disorder. We wish to open doors and remove the barriers for people seeking treatment, ensuring healthy and sustaining patient recovery.
