    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title: Director of Finance and Administration

    Employment Status: Full-Time

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Supervises: One Staff Accountant

    Organizational Requirements

    • Must be goal-driven, results-oriented and committed to the organization’s effort to increase its ability to have a positive impact on the service area’s substandard and affordable housing challenges.
    • The ability to work effectively as a team member with staff and volunteers is essential.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information, high ethical standards.
    • Able to adapt to and excel in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with vendors, staff, board members, families, and anyone associated with Habitat for Humanity.

    Job Requirements

    • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
    • Experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
    • Ability to proactively determine priorities and meet deadlines
    • Detail oriented and organized

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelors degree in bookkeeping or accounting
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Required
    • Must be a CPA
    • Nonprofit experience preferred

    Major Areas of Responsibility

    The following is a summary, but is not limited, to the essential functions of this job. Other duties and education may be required and performed, not mentioned below and specific activities may change from time to time.

    • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
    • Process accounts receivable and payable in an accurate and timely manner
    • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
    • Complete tax and other reporting forms as required
    • Maintain historical records by filing documents
    • Work with staff to reconcile data in other specialized software to the general and subsidiary ledgers
    • Integrate BuilderTrend, a new construction billing software
    • Process payroll and prepare payroll reports
    • Prepare Habitat for Humanity International reports and payments
    • Maintain audit trail at all times
    • Manage NCHFA payments and reports
    • Prepare annual budget
    • Inventory Management
    • Create timely board of directors reports
    • Other duties and tasks assigned
