Streetwork Project is an innovative outreach-counseling program for homeless youth in Harlem, which utilizes a harm reduction approach. Under this umbrella, services include counseling, sexual health and HIV prevention, case management, concrete drop-in services such as meals, clothing, showers and personal hygiene and harm reduction supplies, groups, legal services, and medical and mental healthcare. Safe Horizon reaches young people where they are – on the streets, and in their communities. Streetwork provides immediate, practical assistance to youth in need, while providing a stable, non-judgmental setting to address and explore issues of violence, daily living services (food, shower, respite), triage counseling, recreational activities and support groups.
