    Position Summary:

    LiveOn NY is seeking a creative, mission-driven Communications Coordinator to support our growing communications and advocacy efforts. This position plays a vital role in helping shape and share our story, expand our visibility, and amplify the voices of older New Yorkers. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, digitally savvy, and passionate about social justice and public policy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft and edit written materials including press releases, newsletters, advocacy alerts, website content, social media posts, and op-eds.
    • Manage day-to-day content and engagement across LiveOn NY’s social media channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook).
    • Support communications planning for campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives, including Federal, State, and City budget work.
    • Assist in developing materials for LiveOn’s member network, elected officials, and the media.
    • Track media coverage and public policy developments relevant to aging and social services.
    • Coordinate production and dissemination of email campaigns and digital toolkits using platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
    • Collaborate with policy and membership staff to highlight stories from the field and promote LiveOn’s impact.
    • Help maintain and update website content and ensure brand consistency across materials.
    • Support event promotion, logistics, and coverage including photography, live-posting, and follow-up reports.

    Qualifications:

    • 1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or nonprofit advocacy (internships count).
    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an eye for clarity, tone, and audience.
    • Experience with social media strategy and content creation.
    • Demonstrated ability to tailor communications to different audiences.
    • Familiarity with email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Emma, etc.), content management systems (e.g., WordPress or SquareSpace), and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
    • Interest in public policy, social justice, and issues impacting older adults and underserved communities.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Collaborative spirit with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
