    Description

    Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of seventy employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and fourteen counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.

    Food & Friends seeks a Communications Manager to develop and execute digital marketing strategies that maximize brand awareness and support fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Manager will:

      • Work closely with colleagues across the Development Department to devise content strategy that aligns with Food & Friends’ brand awareness and fundraising goals;
      • Manage paid and earned email and web acquisition strategies to promote engagement and donor conversion, including advertising on social media and websites, search marketing, list appends, etc. Includes SEO, Google Search and Display ads, Facebook and Instagram ads;
      • Write, edit, and create original, donor-centered fundraising and newsletter (digital and print) copy;
      • Create graphics for digital campaigns, including emails, website, social media posts and online ads;
      • Develop content marketing calendar to coordinate integrated planning and development of campaigns and messaging across all channels and varied audiences throughout the year;
      • Regularly update website content and social media platforms; and
      • Assist with collection and analysis of metrics for social media, website, and other activities to establish baselines and inform communications strategy.

    The Communications Manager will leverage their storytelling skills to create compelling communications about Food & Friends’ clients, volunteers, donors, and staff. Must be willing to work in a traditional office environment.

    The successful candidate will have a BA/BS and 3 to 5 years of experience with digital media and content marketing, including 1 to 2 years of digital fundraising experience. Nonprofit experience a plus. Other requirements include knowledge of content management systems (preferably WordPress), HTML, SEO, Google Analytics, MS Office, and graphic design applications; experience leading paid media campaigns; working knowledge of multiple social media platforms and their associated analytics; and strong storytelling skills. Offer of employment contingent upon a background check and pre-employment drug test.
