Beyond the Bars is hiring a part-time Labor Pool Outreach Specialist to support our efforts to identify labor violations experienced by labor pool workers with records in South Florida. This position will focus on documenting worker experiences, identifying patterns of abuse, and building relationships with workers excluded from traditional labor protections. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

    OUR MISSION AND VISION

Beyond the Bars is a worker center in South Florida building the social and economic power of workers with criminal records and their families to transform the industries that rely on their labor and open new doors to industries they’ve long been excluded from. Through organizing, advocacy, education, research, support, and cross-movement solidarity, we fight for a just and thriving future.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct in-person outreach at labor halls

    • Support organizing staff in building and updating contact lists of labor pool workers
    • Offer know-your-rights materials and explain how workers can access support or explore their options
    • With the worker’s informed and voluntary consent, assist in connecting them to appropriate resources
    • Maintain accurate records of outreach conversations, referrals, and follow-ups
    • As needed, participate in organizing team meetings and contribute to strategy discussions around labor pool advocacy

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
