About Us

The Marquis of Valle Flôr Institute (IMVF) is a Non-Governmental Development Organization (N.G.O.) and Public Utility Institute. Its principal objective is the implementation of Humanitarian Aid Programs, Education Programs and economic, cultural and social cooperation for development programs, as well as the carrying out of scientific studies in various fields.

The IMVF was founded in August, 1951, by Dona Maria do Carmo Dias Constantino Ferreira Pinto in memory of her husband, the Marquis of Valle Flôr, and of her son José Luiz de Valle Flôr, the 2nd Marquis of Valle Flôr.

Taking into account the outstanding services rendered during its existence, the Marquis of Valle Flôr Institute was awarded in June 1995, by initiative of His Excellency the President of the Republic, the title of Honorary Member of the Order of Merit (Membro Honorário da Ordem de Mérito).

Since its foundation, the Institute has developed projects and other initiatives in the Portuguese speaking countries, being present since 2000 in all of them (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tome and Principe and East Timor).

The Institute develops projects in the following areas:

-Cooperation for development -Education for development -Rehabilitation -Humanitarian and Emergency Aid -Other areas
