Daddy for a Day is a Brooklyn based non-profit organization created to strengthen the bond between father and child by providing events, workshops and resources necessary to teach fathers the importance of establishing and maintaining a strong positive relationship and presence in a child’s life. With workshops focusing on building healthy relationships, education, job search and resume creation, finances, legal rights and strengthening parenting skills, Daddy for a Day works to eliminate excuses.

The presence of a responsible father promotes physical health and safety among children. Research shows that father presence can foster healthy physical, emotional, and social development as well as reduce the likelihood that a child suffers substance abuse. Father closeness serves as a protective factor against the use and abuse of alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, and hard-drugs during adolescence. When fathers are involved in the lives of their children, especially their education, their children learn more, perform better in school, and exhibit healthier behavior. Even when fathers do not share a home with their children, their active involvement can have a lasting and positive impact.
