Ensemble for the Romantic Century

ERC was founded in 2001 in order to create and develop a new and innovative classical concert format: the theatrical concert. By fusing music with dramatic narrative in an interweaving of letters, memoirs, diaries, poems and literature with chamber and vocal music, the theatrical concert creates a compelling and emotionally charged experience that restores and reinforces the historical context of chamber music and its connections with literature, philosophy, psychology, and the visual arts. As a part of this commitment to historical context, ERC presents its main concert series in a space that evokes the setting of the romantic salon. With this unique format, ERC attracts new audiences for chamber music and educates the public about music, history, and the interdisciplinary nature of the artistic experience while pursuing the highest standard of performing art.
