About Us

The Seleni Institute was founded by George and Nitzia Logothetis in 2011 to better address women’s unique mental health care needs. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are common, affecting about one out of eight expectant and new mothers, and can negatively impact a child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. Millions more women struggle with infertility, perinatal and child loss, and parenting concerns. Yet care is often prohibitively expensive, difficult to find, and not rooted in the latest research.

At the Seleni Institute we believe that all women deserve empathetic, comprehensive, evidence-based reproductive and maternal mental health care. We:

  • Support talented researchers who investigate the causes of, and treatments for, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
  • Communicate these research findings to clinicians and consumers through publications, seminars, and conferences
  • Provide reasoned, practical wisdom online on reproductive and maternal mental health
  • Partner with a Manhattan mental health and wellness practice that focuses uniquely on women's mental health care needs, which integrates current research findings to provide high-quality clinical care.
