Portland Community Football Club (PCFC) offers high quality, affordable club soccer for low-income, immigrant and refugee youth between 3 & 18 years old in the Portland, OR Metro area. The average cost for youth to play at the club level is at least $2000 per year, which does not include uniforms, travel expenses or equipment. This prevents so many youth from low-income communities from participating at a level where they can receive quality coaching, gear and a club experience.
Each player has the chance to participate in four different seasons where they receive a free uniform kit (jersey, shorts, and socks), have access to cleats and shin guards, if needed, and be under the coaching of our volunteers, all with (or on their way to earning) a National Coaching License. We also encourage our players to follow their passion in other sports or activities - they can choose which seasons they want to play with us.
No one is turned away for lack of funds. Cost of play is $30 - $80 per season depending on the level of play. Families do not need to prove income to receive scholarships and we do everything we can to provide important information, forms, and communications in Spanish and English languages.
PCFC is committed to being a completely inclusive club. We are the first youth soccer club in Portland to have an open acceptance policy for LGBTQ & gender non-binary players, coaches, staff and families. Our Founder and Director of Coaching, Kaig Lightner, is an open queer, transgender man who strongly believes that sports provided him with the guidance and strength he needed as a youth. He wants to make sure other youth who identify as LGBTQ find a home at PCFC.
