About Us

Are you looking for an adventure? Do you enjoy being socially engaged? Would you like to take up a challenge and get to know yourself better? Then you might consider working with street children!

SAMEN (meaning ‘together’ in Dutch) is an organization for youth between 18 and 25 (up to 35) years of age who want to do voluntary work on a project for street children in Africa, Asia or Latin-America. The organization celebrated its 25th birthday in 2009.

Every summer SAMEN organizes a group journey for about 15 youths. During five inspiring and intensive weeks you will visit various projects for street children in one or two countries. SAMEN takes care of the preparation, the contact with the projects and the necessary practical arrangements.

Besides SAMEN mediates youths to do voluntary work for 3-8 months on local street children projects. SAMEN provides a lot of information, does the intake, looks for a suitable project and makes sure you start your journey well prepared.

The organization is run by a group of 8 people who have volunteered on street children projects themselves or are otherwise involved in the field of international development cooperation. They are supported by a team of around 40 volunteers who organize the activities and are responsible for preparing new volunteers.
