Our mission is to provide a lifetime haven for injured, abused or neglected performance horses, ensuring humane treatment, rehabilitation and loving care for the remainder of their lives. The Equine Sanctuary of Ojai specializes in performance horses who, injured or beyond their prime, find themselves in circumstances where there is no longer sufficient time or money available for continued care. They often require extensive veterinary care, and are at high risk for euthanasia or slaughter. The Sanctuary provides these horses with a lifetime refuge, helping to preserve their dignity and spirit. As stated so inspirationally in the movie Seabiscut, "You don't throw away a whole life just because he's a little banged up."
