About Us

The SBRN provides comprehensive nursing and social service coordination to children and families in New Jersey and Metro New York living with Spina Bifida, the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. SBRN also raises awareness about the role of folic acid in preventing spina bifida. Young women of childbearing age should consume at least 400 micrograms of folic acid daily (typically found in a multi-vitamin) and prior to conception to reduce the occurrence of Spina Bifida by up to 60%. SBRN stives to be a source of hope, empowerment, and life-saving information for the Spina Bifida Community and the General Population. Our events provide community, important information, and resources for people living with Spina Bifida who often feel isolated.
