Early Childhood Parenting Center
The Early Childhood Parenting Center was founded in 1970 by Helen Reid, L.C.S.W., with the support of Saul Brown, M.D., Director of Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as a division of Child-Family Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In 2000, ECPC left Cedars to become a non-profit project of Community Partners, a 501(c)(3). We provide parneting groups to families in the Westside community. Additionally, ECPC has been the recipient of over 50 grants to help us further our mission of providing early childhood development programs to children and families, especially the under-served.Currently we are working with homeless shelters and domestic abuse shelters all over Los Angeles, providing their clients with mental health and parenting education services.
Our mission is to help parents and early childhood professionals facilitate a healthy early developmental period for young children, thus laying for them a solid foundation on which to build mentally and emotionally throughout life. Our philosophy is based on two core beliefs: that early attachment for infants and toddlers is essential for normal development, and that the patterns laid out in the first few years of life determine what happens later on, with families as well as children.
