Georgia Legal Services, Farmworker Rights Division

About Us

Georgia Legal Services Farmworker Rights Division advocates for farmworkers in cases involving employment and civil rights. Our goals are labor law compliance by Georgia Agribusiness through worker education, negotiation and litigation. Typical cases involve suits where farms have failed to pay workers, cheated workers, discriminated or failed to keep recruitment promises. The office devotes significant resources to meeting with farmworkers to explain legal rights and remedies. Once retained, the office engages in aggressive advocacy on behalf of its farmworker clients. Clients include local Georgians, migrant U.S.-based farmworkers, and guestworkers from Mexico. Our case work has been covered in the N.Y. Times and recently by Buzzfeed News.
