The Second Chance Foundation

About Us

Our mission is to help South Indian grassroots Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working with women’s self-help groups (SHGs), and with female landless and marginal farmers, to promote small-scale sustainable organic agriculture. Specific initiatives include: Initiating innovative multi-crop programs, including permaculture experiments; Assisting Community-Supported Agriculture schemes aimed at the small but growing urban and suburban markets; Conducting workshops on interpersonal communication and leadership skills for grassroots NGOs and village women; Conducting research on successful models of sustainable agriculture, and disseminating information about them through films, videos, and print media. TSCF aims to promote viable communities where young people will increasingly find their villages to be places which meet their social and economic needs, including electricity and indoor plumbing for even the poorest, the ability to interact with people all over the world via the Internet, and a supportive local community.
