The VAVP works to address and end violence within and against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities across Virginia.
We believe that in order to end homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexism we must also work against other oppressions including, but not limited to: racism, classism, sexism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, ableism and ageism.
We affirm and develop LGBTQ leadership as essential to our mission.
We work to end hate violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, state-sanctioned violence, stalking, bullying and harassment.
We work to promote respectful and equitable relationships, community accountability, LGBTQ visibility, access to survivor support, and affirming collaborations.
We are a member organization of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs and are currently supported through Grant #09-A5942DV09 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
