About Us

APOPO's mission is to develop rat scent detection technology that solves major global problems and inspires positive social change. Currently our rats are trained to detect landmines and Tuberculosis in communities in Africa and South East Asia. Since our founding APOPO has efficiently freed hundreds of thousands of individuals from the threat of landmines and screened over 200,000 individuals for TB.

APOPO US focuses on supporting the fundraising and communication needs of APOPO's programs in the developing world, through US based educational programs, media outreach, and institutional and public fundraising. APOPO US also works to form domestic partnerships and programs that would use rat scent detection technology to benefit US populations, including cancer detection and for search and rescue operations.
