About Us

National Park Trust (NPT), a land trust and environmental education nonprofit, is dedicated to preserving parks today and creating park stewards for tomorrow. For 34 years, NPT has enhanced our system of national parks by completing land preservation projects benefiting 40 National Park Units in 29 states, Washington, D.C., and 1 U.S. Territory. Furthermore, since 2009, NPT has been working to cultivate the next generation of park stewards through our two national youth programs, our Buddy Bison school program and Kids to Parks Day. Currently, we are funding 65 Title I Buddy Bison schools and we provided an additional 70 schools with park grants for Kids to Parks Day.

NPT has the unique opportunity to make park preservation projects into a thousand teachable moments, by preserving critical park lands and engaging our youth, especially those that are under-served, with park education programs, outdoor recreation, and park stewardship. We invite you to learn more about our mission and programs and how you can get involved.

Our vision is that everyone will have an American Park Experience. This can only happen if we build awareness and appreciation of our system of local, state and national parks, and dedicate ourselves to introducing successive generations to this uniquely American heritage.

NPT’s mission is to preserve parks today and create park stewards for tomorrow. As we spend more time indoors and as successive generations grow up with less of a connection to nature we need to build greater awareness and appreciation for the importance of our country’s public lands and parks.
