Our nonprofit, Open Tech Foundry, has the mission of making tech entrepreneurship accessible + welcoming to a broader group of people in effort to create more texture among the sort of startups that emerge from the startup ecosystem. To that end, we create programs and infrastructure to encourage participation in tech entrepreneurship.
hack/change is our first initiative. We train underrepresented youth in computer programming with intensive workshops and supplemental education in tech entrepreneurship. We connect these newly-educated programmers with bootstrapping entrepreneurs in effort to stimulate urban economy + create a cycle of sustainable tech entrepreneurship among marginalized populations.
Our courses are offered for free and meet 4 times/week in the early evening hours. We train our programmers to service the tech needs of startups and further incubate their ideas where appropriate.
