Dzitnup

  • About Us

Dzitnup is dedicated to creating a sustainable artisan-design project for the female embroiderers of the Mayan community of Dzitnup in Yucatan, Mexico. Our goal is to promote the creative, economic and social liberation of female artisans.

Specifically, our objectives are to establish a project in which the Mayan artisans can create a living for themselves and avoid the common alternative to factory employment in the region. Upon being self-employed, the artisans of Dzitnup can provide for their families physically, emotionally and economically.

Artisans participate in Fabrica Social design and commercialization workshops (www.fabricasocial.wordpress.com) in order to become truly independent designers. See Fabrica Social for more info.
