Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - San Diego & Imperial County Chapter

About Us

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). People with CF endure countless hospitalizations, numerous surgeries and hours of daily maintenance to take care of themselves-and essentially to stay alive. When the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was founded in 1955, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Thanks to the research and care supported by the CF Foundation, the median age of survival for a person with CF is now almost 38 years.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is proud to be a resource of information about cystic fibrosis. The information provided here should never take the place of advice from your personal health care provider. Be sure to check with your physician about changes in your treatment regimen.
