About Us

The Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition (COPC) was established in 2007 to provide guidance and leadership in developing sustainable solutions to the obesity crisis in Washington state. Today, COPC is comprised of 52 member organizations and has been a major part of several policy successes in multiple areas, including:

  • Promoting health as a transportation goal
  • Keeping schools free of junk food and unhealthy marketing
  • Increasing and sustaining funding for Safe Routes to School projects
  • Creation of a statewide food systems roundtable
  • Healthy beverage work
  • Healthy food and beverage standards for all state government agencies
  • Strengthening nutrition, physical activity and screen time standards in early learning settings
