About Us

Red Cross regions across the state of California are currently hosting more than 60 service members state-wide. All AmeriCorps programs work closely with their host Red Cross regions to best meet the needs of the local community they serve.

California Safe Corps – CSC is the oldest of the Red Cross AmeriCorps programs, which focuses on preparing communities for disasters by providing low-cost CPR and First Aid training to vulnerable communities, disaster response, and supporting the Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services. Members may also coordinate Red Cross Youth volunteers and aid with community outreach.

CA AmeriCorps Disaster Team – CADT is the Red Cross’s newest AmeriCorps program, created in partnership through CaliforniaVolunteers, to support community readiness and disaster response. The Disaster Team has the unique opportunity to work on all sides of the recovery process, by supporting both Red Cross and government run (FEMA, Cal OES, etc.) response and recovery efforts. Members also help build the Red Cross’s ability to support the community through volunteer recruitment, trainings, and engagement.

National Red Cross Corps – NRCC is a national AmeriCorps program that focuses on community preparedness through Pillowcase Project presentations, a partnership program with The Walt Disney Companies that educates 3rd to 5th grade students in their classrooms, and by leading Home Fire Campaigns, where Red Cross volunteers provide vulnerable communities with smoke alarms and readiness education.
