The Great Initiative

The GREAT Initiative is a gender equality charity based in London.

Founded in 2010, we work with both men and women to tackle the root causes of inequality. Our current project Great Men aims to challenge stereotypes of masculinity and to engage men and boys in the movement towards gender equality.

Our 3-hour workshops discuss gender stereotyping and associated behaviour with school boys aged 12-18. We create a space for boys to question the way they view themselves, each other and how they interact with girls and women.

We have a team of dedicated volunteer facilitators to deliver the workshop, all of whom go through a rigorous screening process and take part in an intensive training program.This includes coaching in facilitation and in how to explore sensitive issues such as sexuality, relationships and domestic violence.
