Cal-Wood Education Center
We believe that every child in Colorado deserves the chance to experience and learn about the Rocky Mountains. For 30 years, Cal-Wood’s pristine 1,200-acre outdoor classroom has provided hands-on environmental education experiences to more than 100,000 Colorado youth.Cal-Wood’s residential environmental education programs immerse under-resourced students in nature while they learn academic concepts such as science, technology, math, STEM, social studies, art, and literacy. For many of these students, the stay at Cal-Wood is their first (and for many, their only) experience in the mountains that are so close to their homes. These are students whose families do not go camping in the mountains nor send their kids to sleep-away camps. While the Rocky Mountains are visible along the Front Range, they can seem foreign or unreachable by families with limited resources.
